Study cum leisure room

Thinking of transforming the corridor bedroom to a study cum leisure room, the lady and her man went sourcing for the right furniture to make up that room. Knowing that Vhive sells a wide range of office furniture, they saw a new Grey birch collection soon-to-be in store and purchased immediately as stocks are limited. Still pending a small TV rack and a day bed/2-seater sofa to complete the look..

KDK ceiling Fan

The lady and her man purchased the new KDK ceiling fan with thermal sensor to install in their living hall. The silent thermal sensor feature said to be capable of sensing ambient temperature, automatically adjusting fan speed in response. They grabbed the fan at a good price in JB -a shop recommended by some kind soul in RenoTalk. The lady just hope the fan does its duty and serve the house well =)

Interior wardrobe design

A huge wardrobe is necessary to store the lady's tons of clothes, not to mention her man's which is of equal capacity. Proper space planning is essential to cater to both needs. The lady surfs the internet and browse through loads of magazine to get ideas and design concepts for their customised wardrobe. Her man uses mostly drawers and racks to store and hang most of his clothes; the lady requires to incorporate a small vanity area in the wardrobe and bigger compartments to store her bags and barangs. The lady draws a sketch based on all the requirement and Voila~ the actual wardrobe is ready to start fabrication!

Kitchen Sink

The lady is in a dilemma - to get a granite or stainless steel sink, inset or undermount, square or rounded... Her man prefers an undermount, S/S square sink for a clean finished look. The lady choose a big, rounded granite sink for easy maintenance. In the end, both agreed on a big, rounded, stainless steel sink, and a pull-out tap from TEKA. 50%-50% each - Done deal!

The lady and her man each have their own ideas when comes to designing the bathrooms. The lady prefers an instant shower heater for quick access to warm water. However, her man always longed to have Rainshower system for maximum shower comfort.

2 bathrooms 2 ideas... The lady and her man finally decide to each design a bathroom to suit individual needs. The lady choose the Master bathroom and settles with a simple Princeton water heater to compliment the resort style concept. Her man works according to his budget and install the GROHE Rainshower® system in his self-designed bathroom. Since the common bathroom is equiped with GROHE products, they ended up purchasing additional GROHE basin mixer for both toliets. Damage indicator = High

The lady adores the brand Panasonic and feels like getting everything from Panasonic for the whole hse =P

Hence, after discussing and shortlisting the fridge & washing machine, her man agrees to the model chosen (even though the price is off for the washing machine) Heehee!! However, Panasonic TV seems to be off budget and they decide to settle with LG which is of equivalent specs. Price for LG TV is much cheaper and comes with 12mth starhub cableTV package FREE. Haha, cut the man's budget on TV to cover for the lady's over-budget washing machine.

Hack, hack ,hack

The Aftermath - Kitchen & bathroom

Finally the design and tiles for the hse is confirmed and renovation offically starts on 15-Oct-10 (exactly 1yr before the lady's wedding date). Went over to check-out the work progress on Sat, the lady is glad that the 'Oh no' kitchen cabinets & tiles are hacked away, waiting for the cottage window side wall to go too. After 3days of scheduled hacking, wall should be plaster + tiles work to start on 20-Oct-10.

Since the lady's new home has a big enough dining hall, they can actually afford a longer dining table upto 1.8m. They went so many places sourcing for the right table. Either the size is too short, the price is not right, or most are tempered glass-top which the lady dislikes. Finally they stopped at Castilla where they found a good 1.8m cherry wood table with nice matching highback FL chairs. As expected, the total dining package exceeded the lady's budget and she needs to slash down the price in order to gain green light from her man to purchase the set. Finally, the store manager agreed on the final price quoted by the lady and commented," Aiyo Ms, you really something, haven't met someone who can slash so harsh till make me Orh Bah Kak!"

Heehee, when the lady wants something, she can push her limits and try different bargaining techniques to get it =)

Oven & Hob

Kitchen planning belongs to the lady and she has been busy lately sourcing for the right kitchen equipments. First on the list is a good oven to satisfy baking needs.

Apart from getting a reliable brand, features such as automatic cut-off timer and self-cleaning panels are good to have too. For those who knows baking, you will know what the lady means. Ariston becomes the final shortlist oven as it fits the required functions and budget.

The lady's mum said," 3 burners are better than 2. Ppl commented 2 burners tend to cause tension between the couple". Okay, the lady goes for 3 space-out burners, with cast iron grids and stainless-steel top for easy maintainance. Tempered glass top apparently must be rather cautious in handling and the price is higher too. Finally, the lady decides on Delizia (Ariston's sister) as it fits the simple requirement and budget.

The lady and her man visited their house for the first time after handover and realised there's much more to be done then initial plan. What comes surprise are those additional cost to be incurred for changing of aircon pipes, windows & doors which can amount to quite a sum. Still determined to work within their budget, the lady is trying to see what should stay and which to go. Nevertheless, the kitchen and 2 bathrooms will definitely have a complete make-over. Only the granite flooring is staying, the rest basically will become history.

Tiles for home

The lady and her man went to Hafary@Balestier to chose their home tiles today. Gosh, the extensive showroom is simply mind blowing as there are so much designs and textures to chose from. Having to visualize those sample tiles on the actual flooring & wall is tough and required good color matching. With a preference for resort style bathroom and a brighter looking kitchen to compromise their dark granite living hall, they finally decided on the tiles after a good long hr discussion and shopping with their ID.

Ta da!! The lady can't wait to see the 3D dwgs for their home, schedule to be ready next weekend =)

His new toy

To the lady, its just another sedan with more room space. To him, its like having his dream come true. She says,"Manual car, constraint bucket seat, bumpy ride, and white color - means regular car wash required." He says,"You will never understand de lah" Blah, blah, blah... Okay, the lady agrees to let his dream come true. but with 1 condition to change when new addition to the family." He says,"Can change suspension de." She says,"Excuse me, you're talking abt spending extra few grands loh!"

Haiz, and the debate continues...

Bridal Studios

Nothing seems so true until the day the lady fits into a wedding gown and the moment makes her realised "Gosh, I'm really getting married!" Because the lady is skinny, she needs a tulle gown, preferably off shoulder to make her look bigger and wider. With her Grand Shanghai theme, she also needs to have an oriental evening gown suitable for the night.

Divine Couture is lovely for their sexy low backs, use of ruffles and little details on the gown. Silhouette creates such grand tulle gown that they can make you become a true princess.
Amanda Lee takes pride in their embroidery work and their taste on colors simply adds wonders to the usual white gown.

The final decision lies with lady to select her most prefered choice.

Our newly purchased unit

Opps, forget to update on our latest purchase recently- a resale corridor unit in Bukit Panjang. 12yrs flat with a prime location just directly opposite the future BP Hub and Downtown line. With a 24hr coffee hse behind my blk and nearby BP plaza/ Sheng siong supermart across the street, I can basically have everything at my door step =) Not to mention my MIL staying just 10mins away from us and a direct bus just 25min back to Yishun.. Heehee, everything seems perfect but only with 1 condition, accepting a corridor unit with indian neighbours on both sides. Haiz, guess nothing is ideal so long the benefits are greater =) He says: "You can get free invites to celebrate Deepavali and free cooking tips on indian cuisine!"

Okay sounds good.. Let just hope everything will turnout as good as it seems =)

Floor Plan

Obtaining the floor plan means we're 1 step closer to owning a house of our own =) Feeling a mixture of excitement as it means more work & stress to come on planning, budgeting & designing our new home.

Wedding venue at Grand Shanghai

The auspicious date is set on 15-Oct-2011 to hold our customary wedding . The process is tough to hunt for a dinner venue based on our budget and choice date. As many chose to skip "Tiger year" for the year of "Rabbit", we realised most weekends for 2011 are already booked! Those hotels that we shortlisted either required alternative date, a bigger table qty, or opt for luncheon instead. As our parents prefer a weekend and best to keep our date, we finally settled with a restaurant that can cater to all our needs and budget - Grand Shanghai.

Grand Shanghai is a chi-na restaurant with great ambience and deco. A cosy place suitable for max 26 tables, a restaurant with hotel standard and facilities, and most importantly well-liked by our families. After some good reviews from forum and recommendation by his frens, we finally set our decision with the fine restaurant.

Solemnization dress

The lady needs to look for a pretty dress to match her theme solemnized venue. She happened to browse a bridal magazine and chance upon a lovely dress which might be ideal for her event. Hence she find time to visit the store in Millenia Walk and soon discover a new place for great shopping! She tried a few dresses and finally chose an in-house designed tube dress with a sweet detail at the back. Color is lovely in peach, and the lady simply loves the simplicity but sophisticated details to the dress with a touch of feminine elegance. Voila~ additional 50% discount gives no reason why the lady should leave the store empty-handed. Apart from some alterations required to fit the dress onto her skinny frame, this shopping trip just seems all perfect & wonderful =)

I love Sales!

Whenever the lady walked pass the shop in Taka, she is always tempted to check out that dress on display. But knowing that piece will cost quite a pinch just by spelling out the label, she hesitates, and never attempts to find out. However, after weeks when the lady returned to orchard, she found the shop having GSS sales with the same exact dress on 20% discount! With only two pieces left which fits the lady perfectly, she grapped with both hands and say her thanks to Lord! Although still the price wasn't too cheap, but its definitely worth the extra few bucks difference!!

Happiness is when there's discount on the items that you longed to buy!

Love & Co. Wedding Band

The lady finds the shop name & display very romantic, hence decides to get their wedding band there. So the couple chose their preferred design with the lady choosing a half row diamond platinum piece and the man with a simple cut to match. Engraved with the words 'SNK love carmanza' & 'Carmanza love SNK', the rings are set for the exchange of vows on 01-Aug-10.

TAG HEUER Carrera

As a return gift to seal their love and promises.. the lady sacrifices a few bags just to get him a man's best friend "a chronograph Day-Date watch". Hope he appreciates the significant meaning as it really pains the lady seeing her pockets become lighter.

Well, guess the happiness of her man is same as the happiness she felt from owning a few good bags and a good holiday. Oh, not forgetting a good diamond too. Hee!

An impromptu nite and in his own intimate way.. the qns was popped with the hopes of getting the right answer. Ha, he has to repeat the qns 3 times as the lady needs to verify a few things before saying the utimate answer. Giving his assurance and showing his utmost sincerity, he presents the ring and pledge his heart. The lady is certain of her decision and agrees to walk down the aisle with him. This day, 05-Jun-10 will be the day to mark the beginning of a new chapter for "The SIMs"
